Itanagar, Sep 19 (PTI) Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor Mission Plan 2040 (KPMP 2040) to establish a dedicated Centre of Excellence at its campus, an official said.
The initiative aims to support the long-term sustainable development of Keyi Panyor, one of Arunachal Pradesh’s newest districts, the official said.
The Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed at the premier engineering institute on Friday by Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung and IIT Delhi Corporate Affairs Dean Prof Jayant Jain, laying the groundwork for joint research, technical cooperation, and policy governance.
Speaking at IIT Delhi’s CSR Conclave 2026, Tatung outlined Keyi Panyor’s ambition to evolve into
a ‘Biohappy District’, an eco-centric growth model that boosts local livelihoods and public services while preserving forest cover, water sources, and indigenous ways of life. He also highlighted the Comprehensive Action Plan for Education (CAPE), which places teachers at the heart of community-led development.
Addressing executives from major public sector units, including DMRC, GAIL, IOCL, NTPC, and Konkan Railway, Tatung invited corporate leaders to extend CSR, technical, and knowledge support to the district.
During their visit, the three-member KPMP delegation, including CEO Vijayan MJ and director Dr Mini Kochumbron, met with senior IIT faculty and toured state-of-the-art facilities focusing on healthcare, renewable energy, AI, robotics, and early-warning systems.
Specific collaborations were discussed with the Centre for Rural Development and Technology to address springshed protection, agroecology, waste management, and terrain-suited rural technologies. PTI CORR RG
