There’s always extra curiosity when a film brings together fresh on-screen pairings, and Dacoit has been one of those releases that walked in with buzz, delays, and expectations all at once. But after two days in theatres, the box office story is beginning to take shape in a more measured way.
The romantic action thriller, led by Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, hit cinemas on April 10 following multiple postponements. Directed by debutant Shaneil Deo, the film arrived with strong pre-release interest, especially after its teaser generated conversation among viewers.
However, early momentum at the box office has remained steady rather than explosive. As per latest industry tracking site Sacnilk, Dacoit collected ₹6.60 crore on its second day. The
film had opened at ₹6.55 crore on day one, taking its total domestic collection to ₹13.15 crore so far.
While the numbers show consistency, the film is currently operating in a competitive theatrical space. One of its notable rivals is Dhurandhar 2, which is still performing in its fourth week. On the same day, the film reportedly earned ₹11.85 crore, significantly higher than Dacoit’s day-two earnings.
The story of Dacoit revolves around an enraged convict, played by Sesh, who sets out on a path of revenge against his former partner, portrayed by Thakur, after a betrayal that changes his life. The film also features Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Zayn Marie Khan in key roles. It is co-written by Sesh along with Deo, and produced by Supriya Yarlagadda under Annapurna Studios, with Suniel Narang attached as co-presenter.
Despite its mixed critical reception, the film has received vocal support from parts of the industry. Actor Nani shared an enthusiastic note on X, praising the team’s work. He said, “True BLOCKBUSTER with all heart. #DACOIT WHAT A FILM! Just don’t miss this theatrical experience. @AdiviSesh was fantastic and it is his best till date. Sesh to you and Abburi Ravi gaaru and everyone in the writing and screenplay department. @mrunal0801 how beautifully you have immersed in to this one. One more feather in your hat. #Supriya it’s amazing how you pulled off one of the best films of the year. Full power to you rockstar. Beautifully directed, terrific score, amazing visuals. Big congratulations to the team.”
The release journey of Dacoit has itself seen multiple shifts. Initially slated for March 19, the film was pushed ahead by the makers, reportedly due to the clustering of major releases around the same time, including Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Sesh had earlier noted that films like Dhurandhar The Revenge are seen as industry phenomena, signalling little room for direct competition.
