Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke celebrated Raksha Bandhan in his trademark style on Friday, posting pictures of a cockroach-shaped rakhi tied around his wrist.
Dipke shared photographs from the occasion on social media, including a close-up of the unusual rakhi bearing the message, “Rakhi aur isteefa mubarak.”

The CJP uses the cockroach as its distinctive symbol and has emerged as a vocal group on youth and education-related issues. The organisation recently held a 36-day protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and demonstrations elsewhere against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The agitation ended following the resignation of then Union
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The group’s name and symbol stem from a remark made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing in May. The CJI had used the term while objecting to what he described as growing and unwarranted attacks on the judiciary and legal system, after which the term became associated with the Gen-Z movement.
CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’ Campaign
After its NEET protests, the CJP launched its ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign on August 15 to highlight the condition of government schools. Dipke began the initiative by visiting a government school in his native Santuk Pimpri village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district.
As part of the campaign, Dipke wrote to education ministers across states, raising questions about basic facilities in government schools. He pointed to the lack of safe drinking water, functional toilets, adequate classrooms and even benches.
“How can we expect our country to progress when children are still struggling for the most basic facilities required to get an education?” he asked, urging authorities to make public education an “urgent priority”.
The campaign has also faced hurdles, including alleged attacks and denial of entry into schools. Dipke and CJP worker Ajinkya Shinde were booked after allegedly entering a government school without permission.
