Netflix Will Soon Let Its Subscribers Set Up Gaming Avatars: Know More

Netflix is going full throttle with its gaming plans and to prove that it has acquired a company that is known for building gaming avatars. The platform has confirmed its plans to use the tools and infrastructure

of the company to build avatars for Netflix gamers that can be set up for different games.

Avatars for games are not new and other platforms have catered to the feature for years, Netflix is joining the race to give users more reasons to personalise their gaming experience on the platform. 

Not Just Mobile Games? 

Netflix buying a startup known for developing avatars suggests the company is looking beyond the regular mobile game space for its future in this business. In fact, this is a big U-Turn from a company that sold studios after investing in them to develop its own games. 

Netflix did bring a gaming veteran to run this division and it is likely that avatars could be part of his bigger plan to make this business work and also compete with the giants of the industry. The team behind Ready Play Me will be entrusted with the avatar domain of Netflix gaming, and get more users on board across the globe. 

The platform does need more than TV shows and movies to keep the viewers happy and gaming definitely has a lot of room to grow and even succeed for the company. Avatars are a good way to personalise the platform for games, and also engage in other in-app purchases which has earned billions for gaming companies like Krafton and Epic Games as well. 

While the gaming takes shape, Netflix has recently ended support for casting for the big screens. The casting option has been available for many years but users have now seen the feature not listed when they watch any show or movie on the streaming platform. 

Casting has been a reliable way to stream content to the big TV which also has the feature available but Netflix is clearly not keen to have the support anymore so that people with special plans cannot misuse its access.
