Dube opened his wicket account on Sunday by dismissing Saim Ayub. On the third ball of the 11th over, the left-handed batter, in an attempt to play a big shot, was caught by Abhishek Sharma. After breaking a 72-run partnership for the second wicket between Saim and Sahibzada Farhan, Dube picked up Farhan’s wicket on the first ball of the 15th over. Farhan also tried to play a big shot but failed to connect with the ball properly and was caught by Suryakumar Yadav inside the 30-yard circle.
In India’s first match of the Asia Cup 2025 as well, Dube impressed with his bowling against UAE. He bowled two overs in that fixture and picked up three wickets for four overs.
For India, apart from Dube, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill made headlines with their batting. The two added 105 runs for the first wicket in 9.5 overs. During his stay at the crease, Abhishek faced 39 balls and, with the help of six fours and five sixes, scored 74 runs. On the other hand, Gill, with the help of eight fours, scored 47 runs from 28 balls.
For his superb batting display, Abhishek won the POTM award, and the 25-year-old left-handed batter from Punjab also broke multiple batting records.
