Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2 is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. The makers have been keeping fans intrigued by unveiling character-introduction teasers over the past few days. Recently, they introduced Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep and SJ Suryah as Bodhi. Now, on Sunday, the makers unveiled Vidya Balan’s first-look character-introduction teaser, introducing her as Kantha in the film.

Vidya Balan is set to add a powerful new dimension to Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Jailer 2, and her first look as Kantha has already sparked excitement among fans! The actress makes a striking entry in the character glimpse, commanding attention with an intense and authoritative screen presence.
In the introductory video, Vidya is seen dressed
in a blue saree paired with a black blouse. Her appearance is simple yet impactful, perfectly complementing the fierce persona of Kantha. She is shown smoking a cigarette as she confidently walks down a staircase before entering a room, immediately establishing an air of mystery and authority around her character.
While the makers have kept details about her role under wraps, the 47-year-old actress will reportedly play Mithun Chakraborty’s eldest daughter in the film.
Last year, Hindustan Times quoted a source saying, “Vidya plays the role of (actor) Mithun Chakraborty’s eldest daughter. Mithun is the leading antagonist in the film and will be seen alongside (actor) Rajinikanth sir.”

Adding further excitement to the glimpse is a preview of the film’s music by Anirudh Ravichander. The combination of Vidya’s commanding screen presence and Anirudh’s music has quickly caught the attention of fans online.
About Jailer 2
Released in 2023, Jailer emerged as a blockbuster and established itself as one of Rajinikanth’s biggest recent successes. According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 348.55 crore net in India and had a worldwide gross of Rs 604.50 crore.
Now, Rajinikanth will return in the sequel, Jailer 2, along with Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik. The new additions to the cast include S.J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna.
Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel is also expected to feature several big names in cameo appearances. According to reports, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan are set to make appearances in the film.
The film is set to release in theatres on October 15, 2026.
