Netizens Outraged As Man Pastes ‘Gurjar’ Sticker At Leh’s Highest Point

What should have been a moment of quiet respect at one of India’s most striking mountain passes has instead triggered widespread anger online, after a man was filmed vandalising a milestone at Fotula Top,

the highest point on the Leh–Srinagar highway.

Situated at an altitude of 13,479 feet, Fotula Top holds both geographical and symbolic importance along the strategic route. In the now-viral video, a man, reportedly from Haryana, is seen pasting a “Gujjar” sticker onto a milestone rock at the site. He records the act himself, appearing pleased, before turning the camera toward his parked Thar—presenting the moment as an accomplishment rather than an act of damage to public property.

The clip was later shared on X with a sharply worded caption that read, “He went to a height of 13,479 feet to show the world how big of an idiot he is.” The sentiment resonated with many users, who condemned the act as arrogant and disrespectful toward a sensitive and iconic location.

Several users pointed out that landmarks like Fotula Top are not personal canvases or selfie props but fragile public spaces that demand care and restraint. One post urged authorities to act, noting that the video clearly shows the man’s face and vehicle number plate and calling on the Border Roads Organisation and Ladakh Traffic Police to take action for vandalism.
