New Delhi, Jun 28 (PTI) An alleged shooter linked to gangster Ashok Pradhan was injured during an exchange of fire with the police in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh, while being taken to recover an illegal pistol, police sources said on Sunday. The accused, Rohit Lamba, was on police remand in connection with an attempt-to-murder case and was wanted in several other criminal cases, the sources said.
According to the police, Lamba was taken to Najafgarh Nala Road for the recovery of a pistol when he allegedly pulled out the weapon and fired a round at the police team in an apparent bid to escape custody.
“The team retaliated in self defence by firing two rounds, one of which struck Lamba in the leg. He was subsequently overpowered and taken into custody,”
the source said.
Police said three rounds were fired during the exchange.
