Hapur (UP), Sep 4 (PTI) A long-standing feud between two groups escalated into a violent clash on Friday, resulting in gunfire and stone-pelting, leaving four people, including a woman, injured in Badnauli village, officials said.
Three people, who sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident, which happened on Modinagar Road in Hapur Nagar police station, were referred to a hospital in Meerut, according to police.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Kalanidhi Naithani told reporters that the situation in the village is now under control, and a police force will remain deployed there until further orders.
He said the dispute between the two parties stems from an altercation at a gym about two years ago.
Deepak, alias Golu, sustained a gunshot
wound, while Manish, Bunty, and Munish (woman) were injured by stone-pelting. All of them were initially taken to the district hospital, from where three (Manish, Bunty and the woman) were sent to Meerut due to their critical condition, police said.
Additional Director General of Police Meerut Bhanu Bhaskar said police constituted five special teams to apprehend the accused. Police detained four individuals for questioning and raided suspected hideouts in search of the remaining accused, he said. PTI COR NAV ASD ASD
