England kick off their run at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a tricky fixture in Group C against Nepal on Sunday, February 8. The iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will play host to the match, where the two-time champions aim to fend off the Nepalese threat.
Harry Brook’s men are entering the competition after playing magnificent cricket in Sri Lanka recently, as they hammered the Lankan Lions 3-0 in the T20Is.
England should be enjoying the usual spongy bounce available on the surface at the Wankhede Stadium, which shall aid their battery of power hitters. Apart from the in-form Brook, England have the experienced and dangerous Jos Buttler within their ranks. The batting line-up also features players of the calibre of Ben Duckett, Tom
Banton, Phil Salt and Will Jacks.
Also striving to trouble and intimidate the Nepalese side will be the duo of fast bowler Jofra Archer and wrist-spinner Adil Rashid. Both of them will be looking to exploit the chinks in Nepal’s armour with the bat against quality bowling, something that plagued them in the match against South Africa at the previous edition of the T20 World Cup.
Looking set for a major upset in the Caribbean, Nepal fell gut-wrenchingly short of the 116-run target by 1 run.
On the bowling front, Nepal will require the likes of Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel to do the heavy lifting against an England batting outfit that is expected to hit big from the word go. Nepal will also get accustomed to the conditions at the Wankhede, as they will play all their Group C matches at the venue.
Mumbai Weather Forecast
The forecast is for clear weather, which shall lead to an uninterrupted contest between England and Nepal. The temperatures are expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees Celsius. The humidity is expected to exceed just over 30 per cent, with a wind of around 9-11 km/hour.
With no late-night dew playing a role in the contest, one can expect the bowlers to have more of a say on what is otherwise one of the flattest pitches for T20 cricket in India.
