Jalandhar, Jul 19 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said the trust placed in him by the people is his greatest strength, and pledged to serve the state with complete honesty, dedication and transparency.
Addressing a gathering after paying obeisance at the Darbar of Dera Almast Bapu Lal Badshah during an annual fair at Nakodar in Jalandhar district, Mann sought blessings for peace, prosperity and all-round development of Punjab, an official statement said.
“All of us will celebrate the upcoming 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj together. Punjab is a land of religious harmony and freedom. Divisive forces can never succeed here because our social bonding is very strong. The people of Punjab always stand together in both
good and difficult times,” Mann said.
“The people of Punjab have entrusted me with the responsibility of serving the state, and I am performing this duty with complete honesty and responsibility,” he said.
The chief minister added, “I have earned the trust of the people of Punjab through hard work, and I will never allow that trust to be broken.” Speaking about the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna’, Mann said the state government is providing financial assistance to women across Punjab under this scheme.
The scheme rolled out on July 1 provides Rs 1,000 per month to general category women, while those belonging to the Scheduled Castes receive Rs 1,500.
“The funds are being transferred directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Those women already receiving social security pensions are also eligible under the scheme,” Mann said.
The scheme was one of AAP’s key pre-poll promises made ahead of the 2022 Punjab elections. The state goes to the polls early next year.
On the expansion of the ‘Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana’, the chief minister said, “Under this scheme, pilgrims are being facilitated to visit major religious destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Salasar Dham and Khatu Shyam Ji.” “Together, we must build a happy and prosperous Punjab, not another London or California. I will continue to serve the people with complete dedication to ensure their well-being and the overall progress of the state.
“Our government is working tirelessly for the welfare of every section of society, leaving no stone unturned,” Mann said. PTI CHS ARI
