Ramgarh (Jharkhand), Jul 4 (PTI) Jharkhand Police have launched a technology-based initiative to strengthen crime control, ensure effective surveillance of criminals, and enable rapid detection of incidents in Ramgarh, a senior officer said on Saturday.
A 36-member Crime Prevention and Detection Wing has been formed, and a Digital Criminal Monitoring Portal (DCMP) has also been developed for the digital profiling and surveillance of accused criminals.
Ramgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said a booklet listing 1,971 criminals against whom charge sheets have been filed between January 1, 2021, and March 31, 2026, has been prepared.
The booklet will help prevent crimes such as murder, organised crime, use of illegal firearms,
NDPS violations, illicit liquor trade, dacoity, robbery, snatching, extortion, and other property-related offenses in the district, he told reporters here.
“The list covers cases related to the Arms Act, NDPS Act, murder, extortion, dacoity, robbery, house-breaking, snatching, theft, vehicle theft, and the Excise Act,” the SP said.
The newly formed wing comprises sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) of Ramgarh and Patratu, deputy superintendent of police (headquarters), circle inspectors and officers-in-charge of all police stations in the district.
The SP said the Crime Prevention and Detection Wing will meet every fortnight to review progress.
He said they have also developed a special portal to digitise the records of criminals.
After the completion of physical verification, the digital profiling of every charge-sheeted criminal will be done on the portal.
“It will store essential information, including the criminal’s history, verification details, current residence, modus operandi, and other necessary details,” he added. PTI COR SAN ACD
