The Nawada Cyber Police in Bihar have uncovered an unusual online fraud in which men were cheated with false promises of money, jobs and sexual favours. The scam, widely circulated on social media, claimed that men could earn up to Rs 10 lakh by impregnating childless women.
According to the police, advertisements carrying headlines such as ‘All India Pregnant Job’ were posted on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. These posts lured men with the promise of free sex and a large financial reward. Victims were told that even if they failed to impregnate the woman, they would still receive half the amount.
Investigators said the fraudsters shared photographs of female models to gain trust. However, before any meeting could take place, the men were
asked to pay so-called “initial charges” for registration, hotel bookings and other expenses. The demands for money continued until the victims realised they had been cheated, according to a report by NDTV.
Many victims reportedly lost large sums of money. Due to fear of social shame, several did not approach the police immediately.
The police arrested Ranjan Kumar, a resident of Nawada, while a minor was also taken into custody. Four mobile phones used in the fraud were seized, said Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, which make online cheating and impersonation punishable offences.
Police said similar scams have surfaced earlier in the district, following the same pattern of extortion and blackmail.
Nawada Cyber Police Station in-charge and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nishu Mallik has urged people not to fall for unrealistic offers on social media and to report suspicious online activities immediately.
