Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has strongly reacted to a social media user who appeared to justify the alleged actions of Siya Goyal by citing forced marriage. The actress said that no cultural argument or personal circumstance can be used to defend alleged criminal behaviour.
The debate began after an X user claimed that if Siya and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary had been living in the United States or Europe, they could have been in a live-in relationship and Ketan Agarwal would not have had “access” to her, let alone marriage.

Reacting sharply to the post, Suchitra said that even if Siya did not want to marry Ketan, she had several legal and personal options available to her. The actress argued that alleged violence could not be justified under the garb of forced marriage or cultural differences.
Sharing her response on X, Suchitra wrote, “No culture can justify criminal behaviour. Shame on you and everyone who is trying to justify such criminal behavior. She could have run away, she could have eloped, she could have filed a case against her family too to force her into marriage against her consent. But to pre plan and push her fiancé to death off a cliff- that is the mind of a psychopath.”
Ketan Agarwal Murder Case
The case has shocked many after Ketan Agarwal died during a trek at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Initially, his death was believed to be the result of an accidental fall. However, the investigation later took a serious turn after police allegedly found evidence suggesting that his death may have been planned.
According to investigators, the alleged conspiracy involved Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary.
Both Siya and Chetan have been arrested in connection with the case and sent to judicial custody. The investigation is currently underway, and the allegations against them are yet to be tested in court.
Suchitra Says Forced Marriage Cannot Justify Crime
Suchitra’s reaction comes amid online conversations around the case, with some users discussing forced marriage, personal freedom and social pressure. However, the actress made it clear that none of these arguments can be used to defend an alleged murder.
Her post has added another layer to the debate around the case, which continues to draw widespread attention as the police investigation progresses.
