England faced Pakistan in their second and final home Test series of 2026 in August-September and secured a 3-0 win in the three-match series under Joe Root’s leadership.
The series, in which Root broke Sachin Tendulkar’s world record for most half-centuries in Test cricket and Ricky Ponting’s world record for most runs in home Tests, however, also failed to see an individual century.
Even though Pakistani batters failed to deliver five out of the six times they batted in the away assignment and made headlines for all the wrong reasons, their bowlers made sure that none of the English batters even managed to reach the triple-digit mark.
England batted five times in the series, but only once did one of their batters manage to cross the 80-run mark,
with Harry Brook scoring 91 in the first innings of the first Test.
The England-Pakistan series of 2026 was only the eighth instance, and the second in England, of a three-match Test series ending without an individual century. The other such instance in England was the 1888 Ashes.
Root, who is England’s highest run-scorer and century-maker in Tests, could only manage to score two fifties in five innings. In fact, in the previous series against New Zealand as well, he was unable to score a ton.
The highest individual scorer in the England-Pakistan series was Saud Shakeel.
Shakeel played a knock of 97 runs in the second innings of the Lord’s Test. He was unlucky to miss out on a deserving century by just three runs, but it helped him break the record for the highest score in the fourth innings of a Test match at Lord’s by a Pakistani batter.

Former Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood scored 95 in the first innings of the third Test in Birmingham, while Brook scored 91 in the series opener.
The three-match series in England also brought huge embarrassment for Pakistan as, for the first time in 72 years, they suffered a Test series whitewash in England. Pakistan first toured England for a Test series in 1954 but had never lost all the matches of a series before.
