Actor Adivi Sesh is currently up for the release of his highly-anticipated film, Dacoit. Recently, the makers released a teaser for the upcoming action drama. Apart from the action sequences and gripping storyline, what caught the attention of many was the inclusion of the iconic 90s song Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast from the 1994 film Mohra.
The actor has now opened up about the personal reason behind the creative decision and highlighted why the song was added to evoke nostalgia among fans.
Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast in Dacoit
Including the song in the background score was more of a personal decision for Adivi Sesh as it is closely tied to his childhood as well as earlier memories of performing on stage.
The actor shared that the song was one of his favourites
while growing up in the 90s. He even incorporated it his first dance performance in school.
“Some songs stay with you forever, and Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast is one of those songs for me. Growing up in the 90s, this track was everywhere, and I absolutely loved it. It was actually part of the first dance performance I ever did on a school stage, in a medley of songs, and that moment is still very vivid in my memory,” Adivi Sesh said.
The actor noted that when they were working on Dacoit, he “felt an instinctive pull to bring this song in – not as a gimmick, but as a feeling.”
While working on Dacoit, the actor was keen about recreating that sense of nostalgia. The makers then acquired the rights to the songs.
Adivi Sesh said that using the track in the film was his way of “tipping my hat to that younger version of myself who fell in love with music, performance, and the joy of entertaining people.”
He added, “We made sure to acquire the rights properly because it mattered to me that this homage was done the right way.”
