Twisha Sharma Case Supreme Court Hearing LIVE: The Supreme Court on Saturday took suo motu cognisance in connection with the death of actor and model Twisha Sharma amid allegations of dowry harassment, mental and physical abuse.
A three-judge Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi is hearing the matter. Twisha’s father has joined the proceedings online.
The last rites of Twisha Sharma were performed by her family in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, hours after a second autopsy was conducted by an expert panel of AIIMS New Delhi. Dozens of ex-servicemen, family members, relatives and locals turned up to pay their last respects at Bhopal’s Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat as her brother Major Harshit
Sharma performed the rituals on Sunday.
Sharma’s death has emerged as a high-profile case centered around allegations of dowry harassment, mental and physical abuse. She was found dead at her marital home on May 12. Her husband Samarth Singh, who is a lawyer, is currently under police custody.
Twisha’s mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, has also been named an accused in the case. Sharma’s family has alleged tampering of evidence and procudural irregularities in the probe, seeking scrutiny of phone records and other material concerning the case.
