Former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner said on Sunday that the team’s Instagram page still has him blocked. Warner, who won SRH their only title in 2026, shared a photo of the franchise’s Instagram page on his stories, which showed a ‘private’ profile, a sign of being blocked.
Later, one user commented on Warner’s latest post on the social media platform, tagging the SRH page and asking them to ‘unblock’ the Australian cricketer. To this, Warner replied, ‘they would never unblock me’.

How David Warner’s relationship with SRH broke down
Warner’s stint with SRH was a highly
successful yet ultimately tumultuous. Joining the franchise in 2014, the left-hander opener quickly established himself as a cornerstone of their batting lineup.
Appointed captain in 2015, Warner admirably led the team to its maiden IPL championship in 2016, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament. At the time, SRH didn’t have the batting resources they do today, and the title run was built on Warner’s batting and a brilliant bowling attack capable of defending the lowest of totals.
Over his tenure, Warner became the franchise’s most prolific batter and secured the Orange Cap three times in 2015, 2017, and 2019, cementing his legacy as one of the most consistent overseas players in the competition’s history.
The relationship between Warner and the franchise management deteriorated rapidly during the 2021 season. Following a string of low scores and early team defeats, the management made the abrupt decision to strip Warner of the captaincy.
The situation escalated when he was subsequently dropped from the playing eleven altogether. As the season progressed in the UAE, the disconnect became glaringly public; Warner was often seen watching matches from the stadium stands rather than sitting with his teammates in the dugout. This fallout reached its conclusion ahead of the 2022 mega auction when he was officially released.
