Rumours in Bollywood often have a way of sticking around for years, even when those involved have long moved on. One such story involves an alleged fallout between Salman Khan and director Anees Bazmee during the making of Ready. In the latest update, the filmmaker finally addressed the rumours, clarifying what exactly happened on the sets.
In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, Bazmee dismissed the long-standing rumours of a clash with Salman on the sets of the 2011 hit. According to him, there was never any argument between them, and the speculation only became something they laughed about whenever they met.
Recalling their reaction to the gossip, Bazmee told the news website, “At that time, whenever we met, we would laugh over it. He would ask
me, ‘Anees bhai, tell me one thing. When did our fight happen?’ He isn’t the kind of person who would ever give too much clarification, and so am I. I have never tried to justify or clarify my things. I haven’t felt the need to do it.”
The filmmaker also had nothing but praise for Salman, saying there was never any reason for the two to disagree. He said, “There has never been any disagreement between us because he is such a lovely person. If I had to give him a name, I would call him Dil Khan. He is a very good human being. Every moment spent with him is important. It was a rumour. People wanted something like that to happen, but it never happened.”
Bazmee added that he shares a lot of affection with the superstar and believes Salman was “superb” in Ready, one of their most successful collaborations. Looking back at Salman’s performance, Bazmee said, “His scenes were written and the way he worked… I feel who else could’ve played Prem except him? He looked so good and did a great job. He wasn’t innocent but naughty Prem (laughs). His work and the climax were good.”
Salman and Bazmee have collaborated in a number of projects spanning over two decades. Apart from directing the actor in No Entry and Ready, Bazmee also wrote Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
