Farhan Akhtar Puts Don 3 On Hold After Ranveer Singh's Exit, To Begin Work On Jee Le Zaraa

Weeks after Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3, it has now been reported that Farhan Akhtar is planning to put the film on hold. If a report by Pinkvilla is to be believed, Akhtar does not want to decide on Don 3’s casting in a hurry and has therefore decided to work on Jee Le Zaraa for now, which stars Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in the lead.

“Farhan feels the casting of Don is crucial. He wants to be absolutely sure about who steps into the role, and it is a longer process,” a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed, adding that Farhan is soon likely to begin work on Jee Le Zaraa.

“Jee Le Zaraa has always been special for Farhan. With Don 3 taking time at the casting stage, he felt this was the right moment to revive discussions

with the original team and push the film forward,” the insider added.

Reportedly, the script of Jee Le Zaraa has already been finalised and the delay has largely been because of the date alignments of all three lead actresses. However, if everything goes well, the film is likely to go on floors later this year.

“If the dates align, the film could finally go on floors in the second half of 2026. Creatively, everything is in place, and it’s now about managing schedules,” the source said, adding, “Farhan has started discussions with all three actresses and is hopeful their timelines can align. Everyone is keen, it’s just about finding that common window.”

Why Did Ranveer Singh Quit Don 3?

According to a report by Pinkvilla, Ranveer Singh’s priorities appear to have shifted in the aftermath of Dhurandhar’s blockbuster run. Previously, a source told the publication, “He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space.”

About Jee Le Zaraa

Jee Le Zaraa is supposed to star Priyanka Chopra with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. While the film was announced in 2021, there has been no update on the movie after that, primarily because of the conflicting shoot schedules of all three actresses.

In February 2025, Farhan opened up about the delay in this film when he told The Hindu, “The astronomy of it is all messed up: my rahu is in my ketu (laughs). Unfortunately, it will take more time. I am optimistic that it will happen when it has to happen. There is a time for everything. I don’t want to stress out over this one project. I have other things to do (like Don 3 with Ranveer Singh).”
