US President Donald Trump is currently in Beijing for a major summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as both countries continue talks on trade, technology, and global tensions. Along with senior officials, Trump is also accompanied by some of America’s biggest business leaders, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Nvidia chief Jensen Huang.
While the political discussions remain serious, one unexpected moment involving Musk has now become one of the most talked-about clips from the visit.
Musk’s Video Moment Draws Attention
A short clip from the official welcome ceremony in Beijing is now being widely shared online. In the video, Elon Musk can be seen standing among officials and business leaders before Trump’s formal event with Xi Jinping begins.
Instead of simply waiting with the delegation, Musk appeared fully absorbed in filming the surroundings on his phone. Holding his mobile device up in the air, he slowly spun around in circles, seemingly recording a full 360-degree video of the grand ceremony venue.
The clip captured Musk carefully pointing his phone in different directions as he tried to record every angle around him. Dressed in a formal black suit, he stood among several officials while continuing to rotate with his camera raised. The candid moment quickly stood out because of how relaxed and tourist-like it looked during an otherwise highly formal diplomatic event.
Many online users joked that Musk looked less like a business executive and more like someone visiting Beijing for the first time. Others compared him to a child excitedly recording everything around him.

Internet Reacts To Musk’s Clip
As the video spread online, social media users filled the comments section with jokes and reactions.
“I imagine the intelligence services of both sides hacking each other’s communications,” a user wrote. Another joked, “he is scanning the Chinese… what a legend!”
“At least he’s behaving well, I hope he doesn’t get upset and start raising his arms, hopefully someone is taking care of him xq he doesn’t handle extreme happiness well,” a person commented.
“Hahahahaha it’s a little kid with a phone filming everything,” another wrote. A comment read, “Are you looking for Pokémon?” while another user said, “He looks like a tourist. Not there on business. He definitely cannot tell him to put his phone away.”
Trump And Xi Jinping Hold Key Talks
Trump’s visit marks his first trip to China since his 2017 presidential visit during his earlier term in office.
The two-day summit comes at a time when tensions between the United States and China remain high over trade, technology exports, tariffs, Taiwan, and the ongoing Iran conflict.
Reports suggest both countries are also discussing the possibility of creating a new “Board of Trade” or “Board of Investment” mechanism to help manage future economic disputes and investments between the two nations.
During the visit, Xi welcomed Trump with a large state ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Trump is also expected to attend meetings, cultural visits, and a state banquet during the trip.
