Hema Malini, the actor-politician who has been ruling hearts for over six decades now, recently participated in an event celebrating her 60 years in the industry. During the event, Hema spoke about whether Deepika Padukone would be the apt choice to play her in a biopic based on the life of the Dream Girl, if one is ever made.
“If she wants, she can do it. Anybody can do it. Deepika is a beautiful, talented girl,” said Hema when asked if she believes that Deepika is the ideal choice to portray her in a biopic.Hema and Deepika Padukone share a close bond.
Hema-Deepika’s special connection
Interestingly, in 2015, the Dream Girl of Bollywood had handpicked Deepika to launch her 2017 biography, Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, by Ram Kamal Mukherjee.
Deepika also shares a deep connection with Hema Malini. One of the two characters Deepika played in her Bollywood debut, Om Shanti Om, was first portrayed by Hema. The film’s character, Shantipriya, also referred to as the “Dreamy Girl” in the film, was played by Hema, whose evergreen moniker is the “Dream Girl.”
60 Years of Hema Malini
Hema Malini, who attended the event celebrating her 60 years in the industry, took to her X account and wrote, “Such a memorable, well-organised event!
