Ayush Badoni's Miscommunication With Mitchell Marsh Proves Costly, Video Goes Viral

Star Lucknow Super Giants batter Ayush Badoni departed for a golden duck after a massive mix-up with fellow opener Mitchell Marsh during their match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Ekana Stadium on Wednesday.

The dismissal came in the opening over of LSG’s chase. England pacer Jofra Archer bowled a full-length ball on leg stump to finish the over and Badoni attempted a defensive shot, but the inside edge ran towards the leg side.

As Badoni set off after playing the shot, substitute fielder Ravi Singh charged in from short leg and fired in a direct hit at the striker’s end. Having already made it halfway down the track, Badoni had no chance of turning back.

Badoni was opening for LSG for just the second time, having scored 35 against the Punjab Kings in the previous game.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami produced two unplayable balls while a miserly Mohsin Khan removed teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as Lucknow Super Giants’ all-Indian bowling attack dismantled Rajasthan Royals to restrict them to a modest 159/6.

This is the third time in three matches that Royals’ top order has imploded and things have spiralled southwards for the team.

The experience and class of Shami (2/30 in 4 overs), the Test veteran, stood out, while the tall and disciplined Mohsin (2/17 in 4 overs) impressed with his control, extracting bounce and seam movement from awkward lengths.

The duo accounted for four of the Royals’ key batters between them, with Shami dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal (22) and Dhruv Jurel (0) off successive balls, while Mohsin removed Sooryavanshi (8 off 11 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (22 off 18 balls) across two separate spells.
