Riteish Deshmukh, who is enjoying the success of his recently released film Raja Shivaji, held a roadshow in Latur following the massive success of his historical drama. The film, released on Friday, registered one of the biggest opening days for any Marathi film.
Riteish Deshmukh took to his social media and shared a video of him interacting with his fans during the roadshow, dancing to the beats of dhol, waving at fans, and even stopping by to pay his respects to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
In the video, Riteish was seen dressed in an all-white outfit, waving at his fans through his open jeep. The video featured a sea of fans who had come to catch a glimpse of their favourite star. Sharing the video, Riteish wrote, “आपले आराध्य दैवत छत्रपती
शिवाजी महाराजांचं दर्शन आणि लातूरकरांचं प्रेम 🙏🏽 (Blessed to have the darshan of our revered deity, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and the love of the people of Latur. 🙏🏽)”

The film, headlined and directed by Riteish Deshmukh, collected Rs 10.55 crore on its second day, according to Sacnilk. This is a minor dip from its opening day figure of Rs 11.35 crore. Despite the drop, the overall performance remains strong, with the total India gross crossing Rs 23.77 crore and the net reaching Rs 21.90 crore.

Backed by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, the historical drama has been released in both Marathi and Hindi. It is produced by Genelia D’Souza and Jyoti Deshpande, with Genelia also playing the role of Saibai alongside Riteish’s portrayal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Their sons, Rahyl and Riaan, appear as the younger version of the Maratha ruler.
The film features a large ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amole Gupte in key roles.
At the trailer launch, Riteish had spoken about the long journey behind the project and the challenges he faced over the years. “It’s been 10 years… I first wanted to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 2016, but it didn’t happen. Then I tried again, and COVID happened,” he said, fighting back tears. “It felt like Shivaji Maharaj was telling me, ‘Wait, my child… it’s not the right time.’”
