Uttar Pradesh Claims Top Spot In Meeting Power Demand, Records 32,673 MW Peak Supply

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country’s top state in supplying electricity against demand, with the state government on Sunday highlighting it has consistently led the rankings since June 19 and set a new record peak supply of 32,673 MW on June 24.

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, the state has overtaken major industrial states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, in meeting electricity demand. It said Uttar Pradesh supplied 31,949 MW on June 27, 31,839 MW on June 26 and 31,852 MW on June 25, while the June 24 peak of 32,673 MW marked the highest electricity supply recorded in the state’s history.

The government attributed the performance to improvements in power infrastructure and management under Chief Minister

Yogi Adityanath, saying uninterrupted electricity supply was being maintained despite soaring demand during the ongoing heatwave.

It said major cities, including Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur and Varanasi, are receiving round-the-clock electricity, while rural areas are being supplied power for 22 to 24 hours a day.

The government also highlighted the state’s recent peak supply figures, including 32,405 MW on June 23, 32,348 MW on June 21 and 31,841 MW on June 22, saying Uttar Pradesh has continued to set new benchmarks in meeting electricity demand.

UPPCL Chairman Dr Ashish Kumar Goyal said personnel were working round the clock to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply and that senior officials were continuously monitoring the situation.

UPPCL Director (Distribution) Gyanendra Dhar Dwivedi said the record power supply was the result of improved infrastructure, better management and coordinated efforts across the state’s electricity network. He added that consumers were receiving electricity beyond the scheduled supply roster despite record demand during the summer season.
