Rana Daggubati is one of the producers of the upcoming Tamil period picture Kaantha, alongside Dulquer Salmaan, who also plays the lead. The film is now under post-production and is slated to be released later this year. The film is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, who is known for the Netflix documentary The Hunt for Veerappan. In an interview, Rana Daggubati praised Dulquer Salmaan’s performance in the film and expressed that it would not have been possible without him.
In conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Rana Daggubati said, “Dulquer and I have been friends for, maybe, two decades now. It’s amazing that we got to get together on Kaantha. It’s because of Selva (Selvamani Selvaraj), the filmmaker, that we found a story that was very honest
and truthful. It captures the milieu of the 1950s very beautifully in a human story.” Furthermore, Rana claimed that the film couldn’t have been made without Dulquer. He said, “Still early on to tell but I think if it wasn’t Dulquer, I don’t know who else would have pulled this off.”
