A power bank caught fire on board an IndiGo flight bound for Dimapur while taxiing at Delhi airport on Sunday, but the cabin crew quickly brought the situation under control.
An airline spokesperson confirmed
the incident, saying flight 6E 2107, operating from Delhi to Dimapur, returned to the bay after the fire broke out.
“IndiGo flight 6E 2107 operating from Delhi to Dimapur on 19 October 2025 returned to bay due to a minor fire caught by a passenger’s personal electronic equipment stored in the seat-back pocket onboard,” the statement said.
The spokesperson added that the crew managed the situation quickly and diligently, following standard operating procedures, and the incident was “controlled within seconds”.
“As per the set protocol, relevant authorities were informed immediately. There are no injuries reported. All passengers and crew onboard are safe. After all the necessary checks the aircraft has been cleared for operations,” said an IndiGo spokesperson.
IndiGo described the incident as minor and professionally handled but did not disclose the number of passengers on board.
“We thank our valued customers for remaining calm and cooperative during this incident. Our teams made all possible efforts to minimise inconvenience to passengers including offering them refreshments. The safety of our customers, crew and aircraft remains our utmost priority,” the statement added.
