Kolkata, Apr 6 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Agarwal on Monday said that he would be visiting all districts in the state to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections and ensure that they are conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
The CEO said he would hold meetings with officials at various levels of the administration, including BDOs, officers-in-charge of police stations and district superintendents of police, during his visits.
“The objective is to assess preparedness on the ground, review infrastructure, training and overall arrangements in each district,” he said.
The CEO would also take stock of whether there are any gaps in infrastructure or requirements in terms of training and address
those ahead of the polls to be held on April 23 and 29.
“He will directly interact with officials at different levels to ensure that there are no shortcomings and that all necessary arrangements are in place for smooth conduct of the elections,” another poll official said.
The visits are aimed at strengthening coordination between the election machinery and the district administration in the run-up to the polls, he added. PTI SCH NN NN
