Hanuman Ansh, the movie based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, has become one of the biggest sleeper hits of 2026. After an underwhelming start at the box office, the movie struggled to hold its grip in the first two weeks, only to surprise everyone. With Mirzapur releasing on September 4 and Toxic continuing to run in theatres, Hanuman Ansh is currently unbeatable.
Made on a budget of about ₹2 crore, Hanuman Ansh has managed to earn about 50 times its investment by Day 29. Almost after a month-long run, on Day 29, the movie is currently standing at ₹97.99 crore India gross. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie continues to occupy 47% of theatres with its 5,055 shows across India.
The movie earned ₹10 crore on its fifth Saturday, surpassing
big-budget films such as Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which earned ₹2.7 crore on its fifth Saturday.
On Thursday, the makers of the film shared a poster on social media and announced that Hanuman Ansh will hit screens globally on September 11, 2026. This will further give it a big push in terms of box office collections.
Who Was Neem Karoli Baba?
Neem Karoli Baba was a Hindu spiritual teacher and a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman. His birth name is generally given as Lakshman Narayan Sharma, and he was born around 1900 in Akbarpur village in present-day Uttar Pradesh. He died on September 11, 1973, in Vrindavan.
Many of Baba’s stories are surrounded by accounts of miracles and extraordinary incidents, many of which were passed down by his devotees. Because these accounts are based largely on devotees’ recollections, they are best understood as part of the spiritual tradition surrounding him rather than as independently verified historical facts.
Hanuman Ansh To Have A Sequel
As reported by Hindustan Times, the filmmaker was recently speaking with audiences at a multiplex in Agra when he confirmed Hanuman Ansh 2. Vishal shared that the upcoming installment will focus on Maharaj Ji’s birthplace, Firozabad, and then reveal how and why he moved to Agra, Mathura and other locations for his spiritual journey.
