Travelling etiquette often becomes a topic of discussion online, especially when behaviour in public places affects other passengers. This time, an Indian entrepreneur shared what he witnessed inside an airport lounge in Bangkok and said the experience left him embarrassed and frustrated.
The incident took place at Don Mueang Airport in Thailand. The entrepreneur, Vivek Shukla, posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) showing a man sitting inside the lounge with his feet placed on a table while using his phone. According to him, lounge staff had requested the passenger multiple times to remove his feet, but he allegedly ignored them.

Sharing the incident online, Shukla criticised the behaviour of some travellers
and said basic public manners are often ignored in shared spaces. He also mentioned that children were constantly running in and out of a work room nearby, disturbing people trying to work quietly.
“We Indians are the worst travellers. This man is not agreeing to move his dirty feet from the table despite requests from the lounge staff. He seems entitled. Kids are continuously going in and out of the work room, which is annoying others. But sorry, they can’t be bothered,” he wrote.

The post quickly started a debate online, with many people discussing public etiquette, civic sense and behaviour during travel. While some users agreed with Shukla and said such incidents are becoming common, others felt it was unfair to generalise all Indian travellers because of one person’s actions.
Internet Reacts To The Post
Many users said airport lounges and waiting areas are shared spaces where passengers should be mindful of others. Several people pointed out that putting feet on tables in public places is disrespectful and unhygienic.
A user wrote, “This is exactly why basic civic sense needs to be taught from childhood.” Another commented, “People should understand that airport lounges are shared spaces, not personal living rooms.”
Some users also shared similar experiences from flights, lounges and hotels. A person wrote, “I have seen this happen in lounges, flights and even hotel lobbies. Staff often hesitate to confront such passengers strongly.”
Others, however, said the issue was more about personal behaviour than nationality. A user commented, “The problem is not nationality, the problem is entitlement and lack of consideration for others.” Another added, “Travelling abroad comes with a responsibility to behave respectfully in public spaces.”
