Television sets rarely slow down, even during the holidays. But this Christmas, the sets of Anupamaa took a brief pause from high-voltage drama to soak in festive cheer, thanks to Rupali Ganguly. The actor surprised fans by stepping into a Santa Claus avatar mid-shoot, giving viewers a joyful behind-the-scenes moment straight from the studio floor. The reel, shared online, quickly went viral for its warmth and simplicity. No heavy filters, no staged drama. Just a popular TV star celebrating Christmas with her team. Santa arrives on the Anupamaa set Rupali shared a short video from the set where she is seen dressed as Santa Claus, dancing with her co-stars to a jingle bell tune. The background was filled with Christmas décor, adding to the festive mood.
The clip showed the cast letting loose between takes. Sharing the video, Rupali wrote, “I always wanted to be Santa Claus. Spreading Christmas cheer on your timeline. Merry Christmas with my precious dance Ranis.” The reel instantly struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised her for keeping things real and personal even at the peak of the show’s popularity.
Christmas look ties into new promo twist
Interestingly, Rupali’s Santa look also appears in the latest promo of Anupamaa. The teaser introduces a new character, Prerna, played by Bhavna Ajwani. Prerna is shown as Rajni’s daughter and is expected to bring fresh tension into the storyline. In the promo, Prerna openly expresses interest in Rahi’s husband, Prem, and makes her intentions clear by saying, “Jo cheez mujhe achi lagti hai, woh meri hoti hai.”
The teaser hints at a possible past connection between Prerna and Anupama, a development that could trigger jealousy in Rahi and push the story into a new dramatic zone.
Why Anupamaa continues to dominate TV
Since its launch in 2020, Anupamaa has remained one of Indian television’s most-watched shows. Along with Rupali, the show earlier featured Gaurav Khanna, Sudhanshu Pandey and Madalsa Sharma in key roles. In 2024, Adrija Roy and Shivam Khajuria joined as second-generation leads, adding a new layer to the narrative. The show airs on Star Plus and streams on JioHotstar. As per the latest weekly TRP data, Anupamaa secured the second position overall and continues to be the highest-rated ongoing fiction show on Indian television.
