Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are closing in on the re-appointment of the legendary Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager of the side until the end of the season, following the sacking of Ruben Amorim after their draw against Leeds.
According to reports, Solskjaer’s possible return to the helm of the Red Devils is in advanced stages, with Jason Wilcox pushing the deal through.
Solskjaer, who won the PL title as many as six times as a player with the Mancunian club in addition to two FA Cups and a UEFA Champions League and Intercontinental titles once each, came back to United as a manager in the year 2018 and was at the wheel up until his untimely sacking in the year 2021.
Solskjaer helped United to a second-place finish in the English
top-flight in the 2020-21 season, and led the side to the final of the UEFA Europa League, in which the English side went down to Spanish outfit Villarreal in excruciating fashion.
Ole, who started his youth career at Norwegian club Clausenengen, went on to make his senior debut with his boyhood club in 1990 and went on to earn over a century of caps for the side before his move to Molde in the year 1995, where he played for a year before Man United came calling.
Ole represented United in over 200 games, neting 91 times for the club including the famous UCL winner agianst Bayern Munich in the final of the 1999-2000 season.
He began his managerial career a Molde in the year 2011 and took over Cardiff in 2014, before his second stint with Molde between 2015 and 2018, before United handed him the reigns to the club.
Solskjaer went on a sabbatical following his time as the gaffe at United and took up the Besiktas job in the year 2025 before the pairing parted ways.
While former midfielder Darren Fletcher has been appointed as the man to lead the side out against Burnley, United look to bring back Solskjaer as the manager of the club until the end of the season.
