'Health And Happiness': World Leaders Congratulate PM Modi On His 76th Birthday

The United States Embassy on Thursday extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi “on behalf of President Donald Trump”, while also sharing a picture of the two leaders from PM Modi’s visit to Washington.

PM Modi marked his 76th birthday on Thursday, September 17, with several world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, extending congratulatory messages to the leader.

In a post on X, the US embassy wrote: “On behalf of President Donald Trump, we wish Prime Minister @narendramodi a very Happy Birthday. Wishing you all the health and happiness in the coming year!”

The United States Congress on Wednesday cleared legislation imposing tougher sanctions on Russia and Iran, with the bill now headed to President Trump’s desk for final approval.

The bill, which was earlier cleared from the Senate, grants the US President the authority to impose tougher sanctions of up to 100 per cent on countries that continue to purchase significant quantities of Russian oil and gas.

India said it was monitoring the developments, while also asserting that any decision on its energy requirements would solely be based on the interest of 1.4 billion citizens.

“As stated on several earlier occasions, India remains firmly committed to ensuring energy security for its 1.4 billion people. It will continue to do so through diversified sourcing and on the basis of evolving market dynamics,” said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a statement.

Putin Wishes PM Modi On Birthday

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended greetings to PM Modi on his birthday, acknowledging his contributions in strengthening India-Russia ties.

In a detailed statement released by the Kremlin, Putin also thanked the Prime Minister for the cordial welcome extended to him during his three-day visit to New Delhi to attend the BRICS Summit 2026.

“You are rightly enjoying deep respect from your compatriots and great authority on the global stage. It is impossible to overstate your personal contribution to strengthening the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia”, said the Russian President.

He affirmed that India and Russia would continue to work together to advance cooperation across sectors.

“As always, it was a genuine pleasure to talk with you, and our discussions once again demonstrated your extraordinary political wisdom and foresight. We will, of course, continue our constructive cooperation on pressing bilateral and international issues for the benefit of our friendly nations.”
