In a tragic incident that took place in Bengaluru, an ambulance ended up claiming a couple on Saturday night after it lost control and rammed into a group of motorcycles waiting at a traffic signal.
The fatal crash occurred near Richmond Circle around 11:00 PM. The collision was so powerful that the vehicle struck three motorcycles and dragged one of them for several metres before finally crashing into a nearby police outpost.
The victims were identified as 40-year-old Ismail and his wife, Sameen Banu, who were travelling on a Dio scooter. The couple died on the spot. Two other riders sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
After the ambulance rammed into the outpost, bystanders rushed
to help, attempting to lift the vehicle in hopes of rescuing those trapped underneath.
Videos from the area show people gathering around the ambulance, with mangled motorcycles scattered across the road and visible damage to the police outpost.
Public Anger at Accident Site in Bengaluru
There was outrage among local residents at the accident site after an ambulance rammed into a scooter, killing a couple on the spot. Angry locals overturned the ambulance in protest, expressing frustration over repeated incidents in the area.
They claimed this was the second ambulance-related accident in the locality and alleged that drivers often speed through with sirens on even when there is no emergency. “Today, this recklessness has cost two innocent lives,” said one of the residents, according to News18 Kannada.
Police officers visited the site soon after the incident and conducted an inspection as part of their ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
