MasterChef India Contestant Shares Passing Class 10 Exams with Son
Parvati, a professional chef, talked about her life before in a conservative society. She revealed coming from a home where stepping outside was not even allowed for women. After finishing her ninth grade, Parvati was married off by her parents.
While her husband persuaded her to continue her education, it was her son who made her take that leap of faith. “I had studied till standard nine, so my husband asked me to finish my schooling and go to college. I come from a conservative society, so I thought, ‘Who studies after marriage?’ When my sons became older, they also kept insisting,” she shared on the show.
He further revealed that it was her son, Himansh, who filled out her class 10th form when he was to appear for the State Board exams. “We did our class 10 and 12 together,” Himansh shared.
Parvati added, “Now he wants me to go to IHM (Institute of Hotel Management). My son made me study for the 12th standard via video calls. He used to read the chapter, and I would hear it as a story. My job doesn’t give me the time to study further.”
Parvati Works at an All-Men’s Kitchen
The MasterChef India contestant shared that she currently resides in Jaipur and works as a CDP (Chef de Partie) at the City Palace’s Indian restaurant owned by the royal family. “I was a CDP there for three years. The workforce has 80 men, and I am the only woman in the team,” she added.
