Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi’s Prahaar Won’t Release On August 7: Report

Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming courtroom drama Prahaar will reportedly not arrive in theatres on August 7, 2026, as previously planned. The film, inspired by prominent cases handled by public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, is said to have been pushed to a later date after its makers reassessed the crowded theatrical calendar.

Its trailer had recently been attached to Cocktail 2 and generated interest around Rajkummar’s transformation and the film’s legal-drama setting. However, a revised release date has not yet been announced.

Makers Reportedly Seek A Better Theatrical Window

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama that the decision was taken after discussions with the film’s stakeholders.

“Prahaar was scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 7. However, the

makers have now decided to postpone its release. After discussions with the stakeholders, they felt that it would not be advisable to release the film during that period,” the source said.

The weeks surrounding its original date are packed with major releases. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to open a week earlier, while Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2 are expected to follow a week later.

The source reportedly described Prahaar as an important film that would benefit from a less congested window rather than being squeezed between several high-profile titles.

The makers have not issued an official statement confirming the postponement.

Maddock Films’ August Calendar May Change

Prahaar was one of two Maddock Films productions expected to release in August. The other was the Shraddha Kapoor-led Eetha, scheduled for August 28.

Recent reports have also suggested that Eetha may be shifted to avoid a clash with Toxic, which is slated to release on August 26. However, no formal announcement has been made regarding either film’s revised plans.

Should both reports prove accurate, Maddock Films’ August slate would undergo a significant reshuffle.

What Is Prahaar About?

Directed by Avinash Arun, Prahaar is reportedly inspired by landmark prosecutions associated with Ujjwal Nikam. Its narrative is expected to revisit legal proceedings connected to the 1993 Bombay bombings and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Wamiqa Gabbi stars opposite Rajkummar in the film. This marks their second collaboration after Bhool Chuk Maaf, which performed successfully at the box office.

Although the early promotional material has created curiosity, Prahaar will now have to wait for a new theatrical window. Until the producers make an official announcement, its release date remains uncertain.
