Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised India’s growing influence in the global technology sector, describing the country as one of Russia’s key strategic partners and a leading force in the information technology industry.
Speaking at a public event, Putin highlighted India’s prominence in the global software market and its role as a major contributor to the digital economy.
“Another key partner of ours is India, which is one of the leading players in the IT industry. It accounts for a significant share of the global software market,” Putin said.
The Russian leader’s remarks come as Moscow and New Delhi continue to deepen cooperation across a range of sectors, including technology, energy, defence, trade and education.
Putin has repeatedly
emphasised the importance of strengthening ties with emerging economies such as India, particularly as Russia seeks to expand partnerships beyond Western markets.
India is widely regarded as one of the world’s largest technology hubs, with its IT services industry serving businesses and governments across the globe. Indian technology firms play a major role in software development, digital transformation, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
The comments also reflect growing collaboration between India and Russia in digital technologies, cybersecurity and innovation, areas that have gained increasing importance in bilateral relations in recent years.
Putin’s praise underscores India’s rising profile as a global technology powerhouse and a key player in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
