After Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar Praise Haq, Director Says 'We Are A Very Small Industry And Mutual Love...'

Director Suparn Varma is overwhelmed by the massive response his film Haq has been receiving ever since its release on OTT. Cinema stars like Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Farah Khan have all taken to their social media platforms to laud Haq, which stars Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi.

Taking to X, Suparn wrote, “To get the love and appreciation of your peers and audiences alike is the stuff dreams are made of! “As an artist, we all aspire for a day like this. Grateful and a heart full of gratitude for the love and praise coming for Haq from every corner of the world with its @NetflixIndia debut. We are a very small industry and mutual love and respect binds us together along with our passion for cinema (red heart and folded hands emojis),” he added.

For the unversed, Alia Bhatt recently took to Instagram to laud Yami Gautam’s performance. She wrote, “Queen Yami, you are pure craft, heart and all things gold in Haq. One of my top female performances of all time… As I mentioned over the phone too… am a Yami fan waiting eagerly for all your work to once again charm and entertain us all.” Earlier, many celebrities, including Farah Khan, had praised Yami’s performance. She even mentioned that the actress deserves an award.

Karan heaped praise on Yami and said, “I don’t think I have been this moved by a performance in many, many years… To say that @yamigautam is brilliant, outstanding, pathbreaking is still not saying enough…. Her silences, her stares, her last monologue, and her stance throughout the film are a masterclass of craft and conviction…. Salute and salaam to her!”

Written by Reshu Nath and directed by Suparn Verma, the courtroom drama is inspired by the historic Supreme Court of India judgment in Shah Bano Begum vs. Mohd. Ahmed Khan. The film, set in 1980s India, tells the story of Shazia Bano (played by Yami Gautam) and her legal fight for justice against her husband, Abbas (Emraan Hashmi).
