Virat Kohli was so fired up after taking Shubman Gill’s catch in Ahmedabad on Thursday evening that the veins on his neck visibly bulged in the moment. His aggression explained why the wicket of the Gujarat Titans’ captain was important for the defending champions, who were bowled out for just 155. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a surprising collapse at the Narendra Modi Stadium, failing to bat for the entire 20 overs. In reply, the hosts were off to a flier.
Gill and Sai Sudharsan scored 42 runs in three overs, with the GT captain smashing 2 maximums and three fours to Josh Hazlewood in a single over. However, the other accomplished pacer in the RCB camp played his part. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s length delivery tempted Gill to drill
it through covers, but Kohli’s crisp catch foiled the plan to fetch a boundary.
Gill fell after scoring a brisk 43, and Kohli burst into celebration. The former RCB skipper didn’t hide from expressing his aggression, hitting the field hard with the ball and screaming.

He’s been doing this for nearly 20 years. He’s a legend of the game. He’s rich, famous, & has won it all.
But that FIRE? That never goes out. This reaction to catching Gill is everything you need to know about Virat Kohli.

Gujarat Titans built their entire defence around relentless discipline with the ball, and Kagiso Rabada’s eventual success against Virat Kohli became the defining moment of a clinical effort that restricted Royal Challengers Bengaluru to just 155 in their IPL clash here on Thursday.
Coming back to the ground where they had lifted the title last season, RCB began in commanding fashion, scoring at over 10 runs an over as Kohli took control early, smashing Rabada for 21 runs in his first over, a brutal assault that featured five consecutive fours. Despite the early punishment, skipper Shubman Gill chose to keep faith with his premier fast bowler, and that decision soon swung the momentum.
Rabada (1/38) responded in style, dismissing Kohli for a blistering 28 off 13 balls, a breakthrough that opened the floodgates as RCB’s innings unravelled with a flurry of wickets through the middle overs. Left-arm seamer Arshad Khan then cleaned up the lower order, finishing with impressive figures of 3/22.
From a commanding 71/2 after seven overs, RCB stumbled dramatically to 96/6 in 10.3 overs, surrendering control as Rajat Patidar (19), Jitesh Sharma (1), Tim David (9) and Krunal Pandya (4) all departed in quick succession, leaving their total well below par.
