Amaravati, Jun 17 (PTI) Yoga guru Baba Ramdev will join Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at a programme near the Undavalli Caves on June 20.
He will also attend the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations in Vijayawada on June 21.
Reviewing arrangements for the statewide Yogandhra yoga initiative at the Secretariat, the CM directed officials to integrate yoga with the state’s Sanjeevani public health programme and take the practice to every household, stressing the importance of preventive healthcare and wellness, a press release said on Wednesday.
Yoga for every household should be the central theme, and Yogandhra must be transformed into a people’s movement, the CM said, calling for the successful conduct of International
Yoga Day celebrations across the state.
He instructed officials to provide all necessary facilities for participants and ensure seamless execution of the events.
He suggested that outstanding yoga master trainers be recognised with special awards from next year and called for the preparation of a year-long action plan centred on the theme of ‘Yoga for Every Household’.
To address chronic ailments and other health issues, Naidu directed officials to design and implement a dedicated therapeutic yoga programme for individuals requiring specialised wellness support.
The state-level Yoga Day event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada on June 21, with arrangements being made for 5,000 to 6,000 participants, officials said.
In case of adverse weather, contingency plans have been prepared to conduct the programme with around 1,000 participants at the Ambedkar Kala Vedika in Vijayawada, according to the press release.
Officials informed Naidu that Ramdev will arrive in the state on June 19 and is scheduled to meet the CM ahead of the Yoga Day events.
Around 2.6 lakh trainers have already been trained under Yogandhra, while registrations for Yoga Day events have crossed one crore, officials said.
State-level yoga competitions will be conducted in Vijayawada from June 18 to 20, while yoga programmes will be organised at 1.33 lakh centres across Andhra Pradesh on June 21.
On the same day, Naidu will release the ‘Yoga @ Destination’ calendar — a schedule of yoga-related activities and destinations in the run-up to next year’s International Yoga Day, officials said. PTI MS SSK
