A video from a shop named Waff’s Street in Janakpuri, Delhi, has grabbed the attention of foodies on Instagram. The clip, posted by a food vlogger, shows the vendors making an odd variation of the traditional
shawarma by adding sweet notes.
Delhi Vendor Makes Sweet Shawarma
First, the vendor poured the creamy, crepe-style batter into a tawa and cooked it until golden brown before spreading a generous portion of chocolate syrup. Next, two types of sponge cakes were stacked on a vertical spit, similar to how meat is layered for the shawarma. Once done, the cakes were shaved off in small chunks with a scalpel and added to the crepe.
After that, he drizzled some more chocolate sauce, followed by a few dollops of fresh cream and rolled the crepe before finally topping the sweet shawarma with chocolate chips and serving it to the vlogger. The price? Rs 230. As per the text overlay, he visited the outlet for the “first time”.
