Chandigarh, Jun 1 (PTI) In a relief to the trading community, the Haryana government has extended the timeline of the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme-2026 until September 28 for the resolution of long-pending tax disputes.
The scheme aims to provide a permanent and expeditious settlement of legacy tax matters, enabling traders to secure relief from prolonged litigation and outstanding tax liabilities while further strengthening the ease of doing business in the state.
Sharing details of the scheme, a government spokesperson on Monday said that the special relief initiative has come into effect from June 1, 2026, and will remain operational until September 28, 2026.
The spokesperson further stated that similar initiatives undertaken by the Haryana
government have received an overwhelming response from the business community in the past. In 2025 alone, a record 1,15,223 traders availed scheme benefits and successfully resolved their pending tax disputes.
The spokesperson said that the government has introduced even more liberal and taxpayer-friendly provisions under the latest edition of the scheme. One of its most significant features is that small taxpayers having outstanding tax dues of up to Rs 1 lakh in any financial year will receive an automatic waiver of tax, interest and penalty, without the need to submit any application or visit any government office.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare and growth of the business sector, the spokesperson said that traders and entrepreneurs are the backbone of economic progress and national development.
The One-Time Settlement Scheme-2026 offers a valuable opportunity to free businesses from the financial and psychological burden of legacy tax disputes, allowing them to focus on growth, investment and economic expansion with greater confidence. PTI SUN MR
