Mumbai, Sep 16 (PTI) The Versova police have arrested two persons for a burglary at a film producer’s house in Andheri and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 14.8 lakh, an official said on Wednesday.
The arrested men were identified as Rahul Sadashiv Mudane and Armaan Kurbanali Shah. A third suspect, Irfan Sheikh, is absconding.
According to police, the break-in took place between August 26 and September 5 at a residential society in the Seven Bungalows area when film producer Aren Mores Cairo and his wife were in Vietnam.
On their return, they found that a wooden cupboard in the bedroom had been broken open.
Police scanned CCTV footage from the area and zeroed in on Mudane and Shah as suspects.
The duo allegedly confessed to the crime. Two gold
chains, a mangalsutra, a gold bracelet, a Rolex watch, a diamond ring, foreign currency and cash worth altogether Rs 14.84 lakh were seized from their possession. Efforts are on to recover the remaining stolen property worth Rs 2.34 lakh, police said. PTI ZA KRK
