While many actors might feel uncomfortable being completely naked with a co-star for a scene, Jennifer Lawrence is clearly not one of them. The actor is currently busy promoting her new film, Die My Love.
During an appearance on the Friday, October 17 episode of The Graham Norton Show, Lawrence revealed that Lynne Ramsay, the director of the film, challenged her to do interpretative dance lessons with co-star Robert Pattinson, whom she didn’t really know before shooting the thriller.
Jennifer Lawrence Danced Naked With Robert Pattinson?
The Hunger Games actor shared, “Lynne Ramsay, the director, challenged us during rehearsals – Robert and I had to do interpretative dance lessons together.”
They felt embarrassed and humiliated, as both of them were
completely unknown to each other. She added, “We both embarrass quite easily and we didn’t really know each other, so it was totally humiliating.”
Lawrence jokingly recalled, “On the first day of filming, she asked if we remembered what we did and asked if we would do it naked,” while her fellow guests, including Bruce Springsteen and Tessa Thompson, reacted with curiosity.
“Should I have said no? You all seem quite shocked,” she continued.
How Were the Dance Moves?
Pattinson praised his co-star in GQ, saying, “Jennifer Lawrence, really good dancer. They just find it so easy, and they’re like, ‘Just dance, it’s just music playing, just dance.’” However, the Twilight actor admitted he was far from relaxed as the dance scene approached. He shared, “I’m like… ‘I’m telling you, I’m going to have a mental breakdown when this happens. We need to either choreograph it or cut it,’ and they’re like ‘Just dance, stop being a freak!'”
Jennifer Lawrence On Her Role in Die My Love
During the The Graham Norton Show, the Oscar winner also discussed how she landed the role of Grace opposite Pattinson’s Jackson in the psychological drama, adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s 2017 novel. The story follows a new mother who experiences postpartum depression and descends into psychosis.
“Martin Scorsese brought this to us after he had read the book at his book club, which is adorable. He said I should play the character,” she revealed. “When I read the book, I had a hard time imagining it as a movie, but I wasn’t going to correct Marty!”
Die My Love which received a nine-minute standing ovation at the 78th Cannes Film Festival will hit theatres on November 7.
