Karan Johar Unfollows Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan On Instagram; Only Follows Priyanka Chopra Now

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has triggered discussion online after fans noticed major changes to his Instagram following list. The director and producer has reportedly unfollowed several Bollywood celebrities, including close friends Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Manish Malhotra.

The activity has grabbed attention because Karan Johar is known for his long-standing friendships and close industry relationships. Fans also noticed that actors like Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Malaika Arora and Ananya Panday no longer appear on the filmmaker’s following list.

As of Thursday evening, Karan Johar’s Instagram following count reportedly stood at just 78 accounts despite having over

17 million followers on the platform.

The filmmaker has also unfollowed actor Kartik Aaryan, even though the actor is set to headline Karan Johar’s upcoming production Naagzilla.

Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra’s name first caught fans’ attention because Karan Johar was still following her despite their old fallout and feud rumours from years ago. However, users later noticed that Karan is currently not following any Bollywood actor on Instagram. The only major names on his following list now are Dharma CEO Apoorva Mehta and business partner Adar Poonawalla, both closely connected to his work circle.

The reason behind the sudden unfollow spree remains unclear so far. Karan Johar has not publicly commented on the matter yet.

Fans Notice Bollywood’s Biggest Names Missing

Several of Bollywood’s biggest stars are now missing from Karan Johar’s following list. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, users also pointed out that Kareena Kapoor Khan, Malaika Arora and designer Manish Malhotra no longer appear among the accounts he follows.

Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra were all launched by Karan Johar through Student Of The Year and are often described as some of his closest industry protégés. Despite having 17.5 million followers, the filmmaker is now following only 78 accounts.
