Gurugram Police on Tuesday detained accused Kalyan Bainsla in Dausa, Rajasthan, after adding an attempt-to-murder charge against him in connection with the alleged hit-and-run involving a woman biker on Golf Course Road, following an analysis of CCTV footage of the incident.
Kalyan Baisla will now be brought from Dausa to Gurugram by the Gurugram Police for further investigation.
The police have invoked Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with attempt to murder. The provision carries a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.
The development comes after a video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a car allegedly crashing into a woman riding a motorcycle before fleeing from the spot.
Attempt-To-Murder Charge Added After CCTV Analysis

motu cognisance of the incident after the footage surfaced online. During the investigation at Sector 56 police station, officers analysed CCTV footage from the area.
The attempt to murder charge was added by the police after the analysis of the CCTV footage.
The case was initially registered under Section 281 (rash driving) and Section 125 (causing injury) of the BNS. Police had earlier said the accused had been identified and that three teams were formed to apprehend him.

The incident occurred on Sunday on Golf Course Road when the woman, who has identified herself as Sia on social media, was riding an Aprilia RS 457 with a group of bikers.
Woman Biker Thrown Off Bike
According to footage captured by cameras mounted on the motorcycles, a car came alongside the group and struck Sia’s motorcycle. The impact threw her off the bike, after which she skidded several metres along the road.
Sia suffered minor injuries but has said she continues to deal with both physical pain and the emotional impact of the incident.
Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Sia said, “My knees hurt, my whole body aches. I want to recover soon,” she said, adding, “I have been under immense shock.”
She also recalled the behaviour of the driver before the collision.
“I have no idea when the car came on Golf Course Road. He showed thumbs up first and then he kept giving strange signals,” she told CNN-News18.
Sia had alleged on social media that the car followed her group before coming close to her motorcycle. She claimed the occupants misbehaved with her and asked her to stop after she told them to maintain their distance. She also alleged that they appeared to be intoxicated.
The footage shows the car hitting her bike and subsequently leaving the area.
Accused Admits Collision, Denies Deliberate Hit
Bainsla, a gym owner who describes himself as an international kabaddi player, has admitted that the collision took place but denied deliberately hitting Sia.
Speaking to the media, he said he was travelling with his sister and two cousins when the incident occurred.

“I was travelling with my family. I didn’t make any gestures at the young woman; I simply asked her to ride her bike slowly. I admit that a collision occurred. Had I stopped right then, those people would have beaten us up,” he said.
Bainsla claimed that around 20 to 22 motorcyclists had overtaken his car and that he did not initially realise a woman was among them.
“She was turning without checking her mirrors; just then, near a U-turn, I lost control of the car, and the collision occurred. It was my fault; I admit it,” he said.
He also claimed that he considered stopping after the collision but decided against it after the bikers allegedly abused him.
“My family was with me, so I feared they might beat us up if we stopped. I even stopped the car at a red light to speak to them and explained that it wasn’t my fault. After that, my brother refused to stop there,” he said.
“There isn’t a single case against me from the past. Now, I am being harassed,” he added.
Lawyer Claims Woman Was Riding At 140-170 Kmph
Bainsla’s lawyer Naveen Bainsla said his client had been returning from a relative’s home in Delhi with his family when the incident took place.
“My client was returning from a relative’s place in Delhi with his family. Around 25 riders were constantly overtaking my client; the woman was driving at 140-170 kmph when she took a right, and my client took a left, which resulted in the collision.”
The car involved in the incident is registered in the name of Manish, who said he was not driving it when the collision occurred.
“I work in the Army, and yes, it is my vehicle. I was at work, and my friend Kalyan Singh had borrowed my car,” Manish said.
His uncle Kartar Poswal also said Bainsla had borrowed the vehicle and that the family was unaware of his whereabouts.
Woman’s Father Calls For Strict Action
Sia’s father said he learnt about the incident through media reports because his daughter had not initially told him about it. He alleged that the collision was deliberate and described the incident as a women’s safety concern.
“Strict action must be taken against such individuals,” he said. Sia later said she would pursue legal action and file an FIR with her lawyer. She also requested news organisations not to reveal her identity or show her face.
Bainsla has since deactivated his Instagram account following the controversy.
Gurugram Police has reiterated that it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards road rage, reckless driving and unlawful conduct on the roads, and said strict action would be taken against those found involved.
