Much like other actors, Gaurav Gera’s role in Dhurandhar is also generating widespread discussion. The actor, who portrayed a spy aiding Ranveer Singh’s character to infiltrate the underground group led
by Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait in Lyari, Pakistan, has received high praise.
Recently, Gaurav Gera thanked director Aditya Dhar and described the film as a true reflection of his vision, which he believes is the key to the movie’s massive box office success.
In a conversation with Zoom, Gaurav Gera expressed how overwhelmed he was by the love he received from fans. “Their support makes me so happy; some reactions even brought me to tears. It’s a wonderful moment I’ve been waiting for so long,” he shared. Reflecting on the film, Gaurav said, “I feel incredibly happy and fortunate to be part of Dhurandhar. After playing a variety of characters, including Chutki, I was eager for a role that would let me showcase different facets of my craft. Often, actors get typecast, and the audience doesn’t get to see their full potential. Dhurandhar has given me the chance to reveal a side of myself that viewers haven’t seen before.”
Gaurav Gera Recalls Auditioning For Dhurandhar
Sharing how he got the role, Gaurav mentioned that Mukesh Chhabra’s team called him, and he auditioned for a very hard scene. Aditya Dhar was also present for the same.
Gaurav Gera’s Unrecognisable Look
Gaurav Gera’s character, Mohammad Aalam, is a middle-aged juice vendor in Lyari’s bustling central market. However, beneath this facade, he is a spy tasked with helping Ranveer Singh’s Hamza Ali Mazari infiltrate the core gang led by the main antagonist, played by Akshaye Khanna. Gaurav’s transformation in the film is so convincing that many viewers admitted it took them some time to realise he was playing Aalam. Social media is now flooded with praise for his performance, which Gaurav attributes to his older appearance in the role.
Dhurandhar follows Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, as he conducts a high-risk mission to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan. Ranveer Singh plays a Punjabi youngster recruited from prison and trained to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal underworld. Ranveer Singh leads the cast of Dhurandhar, which also includes Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Gaurav Gera, and others. The sequel, Dhurandhar 2, will be released in theatres on March 19, 2026.
