His message comes at a time when Zia’s health has drawn increasing attention in Bangladesh, where she has been receiving prolonged medical care.
Ex-PM Zia’s Health ‘Extremely Unwell’
Bangladesh National Party leaders on Monday said that Khaleda Zia is “extremely unwell” and has been placed on ventilatory support, with teams of local and international specialists monitoring her condition.
The 80-year-old BNP chairperson was admitted to a private hospital on November 23 after a severe chest infection affected both her heart and lungs.
Four days later, her condition deteriorated further, prompting doctors to shift her to the coronary care unit.
Party leaders said the situation remains critical. “She is extremely unwell, and the entire nation is praying for her recovery. Local and foreign medical experts are doing everything possible,” a BNP leader told reporters.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Sunday (November 30) that her condition had not improved.

Despite her declining health, she remains an influential figure within the BNP and Bangladeshi politics.
