Writing about artificial intelligence is one thing. Helping the people building it explain their work to the world is another — and Anthropic is willing to pay handsomely for that skill.
The AI company behind Claude is advertising an executive communications writer role with an annual salary of up to $345,000, approximately Rs 3.25 crore. The position centres on helping the company’s senior leadership communicate its research, commercial strategy and broader public messaging to audiences ranging from the general public to technical experts.
The job goes beyond drafting speeches or polishing statements. The selected candidate will work closely with Anthropic’s Head of Executive Communications, senior leaders and external communications teams to
shape messages around the company’s work in AI, prepare executives for important public appearances and respond to fast-moving developments.
The job listing describes the role as an opportunity to communicate Anthropic’s position at the forefront of AI research, its commercial standing and its commitment to public benefit. The person hired will need to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling communication without losing the substance behind the technology.
What Will The Anthropic Writer Do?
The role combines writing, editorial judgement and strategic communications. The person appointed will draft and edit speeches, develop written material for different platforms, brainstorm ideas with executives and help prepare leadership communications for major announcements.
They will also coordinate with subject matter experts and communications colleagues to ensure that public-facing messages are accurate and suited to their intended audiences. Supporting on-site events and helping the company respond to breaking news are also part of the job.
The position may involve writing for highly specialised readers, too. Anthropic’s listing says candidates should be able to produce technically detailed material for audiences with substantial expertise in the relevant field.
The company is looking for people who can think beyond conventional corporate messaging. It describes its ideal applicants as “proactive, visionary candidates who offer fresh perspectives on what executive communications might look like in the AI era”.
Applicants with expertise relevant to Anthropic’s leadership team may be particularly well suited to the position. The company identifies areas including science and research, products and AI architecture, enterprise and commercial strategy, and visual storytelling and brand.
What Skills And Qualifications Does Anthropic Want?
A strong writing portfolio is important, but the company is also looking for someone who can work as a strategic partner to senior executives. The role requires an ability to advise leaders on communication priorities, collaborate across teams and help prepare them for high-profile public engagements.
Candidates should be comfortable switching between formats and audiences, from speeches and written statements to technical communications. They will also need sound organisational skills and the confidence to make decisions when circumstances are uncertain.
Anthropic places value on curiosity, intellectual humility, initiative and the ability to understand complex technical subjects. The selected candidate is expected to bring an independent point of view while working closely with executives, communications specialists and subject matter experts.
The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Applicants must also demonstrate relevant knowledge through their academic background, training or professional work. For candidates applying from outside the United States, visa support is another important consideration. Anthropic says it sponsors visas, but makes clear that sponsorship is not guaranteed for every role or candidate. “We do sponsor visas! However, we aren’t able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate,” the company states in the job listing.
The company adds that, once a candidate receives an offer, it will make “every reasonable effort” to secure a visa and can provide assistance through an immigration lawyer. International applicants should therefore treat sponsorship as a possibility rather than an assurance of approval.
Anthropic also encourages people to apply even if they do not meet every qualification listed in the advertisement, acknowledging that strong candidates may not tick every box.
