A group of around 50 people who were deported from the United States has been handed over to their families, police said on Sunday.
Among the deported youths, 16 belong to Karnal district, 14 to Kaithal, and five to Kurukshetra. They were brought to these cities under police supervision and have been handed over to their family members after a brief inquiry.
As per officials, these people, mostly between 25 and 40 years of age, had gone to the US through illegal channels after paying a huge amount.
According to Karnal DSP Sandeep, the flight carrying the deported Indians arrived in Delhi on Saturday night, following which the officials brought the group from Delhi to Karnal.
“Today, around 50 youths were deported from the USA, including about 16
from Karnal district, from various villages and towns…” he said as quoted by news agency IANS.

Kaithal SP Upasana confirmed that 14 youths have been deported by the US and the police are verifying their background. “All have been handed over to their family members,” said the SP.
Earlier in July, the the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed that US has deported 1,563 Indian nationals since Donald Trump assumed office. Most of the deportees have been sent back.
“Since 20 January of this year, till yesterday, some 1,563 Indian nationals have been deported from the United States so far. Most of these Indian nationals have come by commercial flight,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said during a press briefing.
